Meet Lillian Cumic
Lillian Cumic is a Hawaiʻi-based vegan chef, columnist, cooking instructor, food photographer, model and author of three acclaimed cookbooks: Hawaiʻi A Vegan Paradise, Tasting Hawaiʻi Vegan Style, and Hawaiʻi Washoku.
Originally from Sydney, Lillian spent thirty years living and working in Sendai, Japan, where she developed a deep respect for Washoku- the traditional Japanese approach to food that celebrates balance, seasonality, and harmony of food.
In 2024, Lillian captured national recognition as the runner-up in Taste of Home’s Favorite Chef competition, standing out from over 95,000 contestants and was featured in Season One, Episode One of the new docuseries Following Journeys.
Now calling Hawai‘i home, Lillian blends her passion for plant-based cuisine into a modern lifestyle rooted in harmony, beauty, and balance—one that anyone, regardless of background or culture, can embrace.
